reasons to encrypt mail and data

Steve is correct WRT the company's assets. Many companies have policies covering the use of their equipment including encryption. Some companies require that employees encrypt data on their laptops to prevent losing sensitive information if a laptop is lost or stolen. While I'm a bit less paranoid than Derek, he made some really excellent points.
