The second one actually encoded a lot faster than I expected. There must
have been something slowing down the first one.
I guess my biggest issues are hardware related; I'm encoding the video
on an iMac G3 400 MHz box, and it tends to run slow at times. I'm
basically holding off on upgrading to a newer Mac until I find a job.
As for making the raw DV stream available, that's 24 GB for two hours
of video; I'm not willing to choke my cablemodem with that. Transcoding
from the MPEG files would most likely result in extremely poor quality.
I suppose I could dump the edited video onto a couple of MiniDV tapes
and hand them to you at the next meeting.
Currently I'm set up for VideoCD and QuickTime, and I'm keeping an
eye on Ogg-Tarkin development for the future. If you're willing to
encode to other formats like DivX or RealMedia, that would be great.
