I have not seen any german text in the man pages. Some of their older
versions (5.x and 6.x) had some.
They still use YaST (actually YaST2) which is now modular. But, you can
still configure stuff by hand. There was never any restriction from that.
They are now reasonably compliant with LSB. Most of the config stuff you
use on Red Hat can be used on SuSE 8.0 with no problems.
