Odd hardware problem

Try another power supply. If you don't even get a BEEP from the PC speaker (usually happens before POST), then that's my suspicion.
If you don't want to buy a new PS just to test (understandable), you could email a request here and someone might bring a spare loaner to the next BLU (I have a spare AT PS, but no ATX spares.. but I never make the BLU meetings).
