I don't recall who, but at least one of them (Thompson, Ritchie or
Kernighan) had a background in astronomy. I don't think these guys were
dealing with phone systems.
It is amazing that Unix has had it right since the beginning of time
(1/1/1970), but that other, newer systems continue to screw it up.
