I don't recall is Ultrix had a fully ANSI C. The standard library
functions, such as fscanf, may have had different return values before
ANSI C. (ANSI C fscanf returns the number of conversions). I'm not all
that strict in that I give my students some leeway. Most work full time
and can't be expected to hand around the college every day.
