did you try 'myisamchk' (not isamchk as you indicate below)?

next thing to try:
- move the MYD file to a safe palce,
- create the table 
- copy the MYD file back
- run myisamchk

   this will create a new .frm and empty .MYI file, which will help if
they got currupted.
