Windows to Power ATM's in 2005

I've been away from Fleet for almost three years.  It's difficult to say why
the ATM manufacturers choose to go with M$.  The only thing that changes
from bank to bank is the graphics on the screen.  Everything else is
standardized (hardware, communications, etc.).  They use very low to mid
range CPU's due to the needs of the machine, not the banks.

I don't doubt the banks central data centers have/had fun filtering virus's
in email.  Especially now that many have switched to M$ 2000 from Novell
servers.  But, I agree a Unix solution would have been more cost effective
than the licensing co$t from M$.
