Encrypted filesystems

IMHO: I prefer to encrypt individual files on thumb type drives.
But, in the terms of things like laptops. People, especially sales
people maintain much sensitive information on laptops. In this case, I
would probably want the entire laptop hard drive to be encrypted.
Again, the use should dictate the method.
