When I switched to Comcast Digital Phone, my Verizon connection always had
static. They even dispatched technicians on occasion, and I disconnected
the entire in-house infrastructure to prove it was them. More recently a
coworker with DSL had problems with Verizon where she was down for over 2
weeks. She works from home, and had to commute for that period of time.
Then, a friend of mine lost his entire phone system on a Thursday. A call
to Verizon stated that they would not be able to fix it until the next
Tuesday. (It was his entire condo building). Verizon kind of fixed it so he
could dial out, but incoming calls would not ring. 2 weeks later he spoke
to the Verizon President's secretary and finally got them to fix the
problem. (Note that he lives across the street from the Verizon CO). Since
he was already planning to get Comcast Internet, he also signed up for
phone service (eg. VOIP). he has had no problems for the past month he has
been on Comcast.
WRT: Internet. Since Comcast took over from AT&T the Internet service has
been very stable with virtually no outages or noticeable slowdowns. With
ATTBI, we did have occasional network outages for short periods of time.
