Suse - mouse & keyboard stopped working

Any suggestions?
 
My home Suse 9.1 box was working perfectly. But now the mouse and keyboard do not work.
 
So when I try to login, I cannot moved the mouse. I see the cursor in the middle of the screen, but it doesn't move. The text curson is in the username box, but nothing is shown when I type. 
 
If I boot in text-only (failsafe) mode, the keyboard works fine.
 
Any suggestions?
