Yeah, it's about performance with large numbers of files, as
opposed to the actual size of the files.

Ext3 has been tested more than Reiser3 (and much, much more than
Reiser4). If you're feeling paranoid about data, you go with the
old standards. If you feel that performance is more critical
than reliability (an outgoing mail queue, temporary storage for
anything, working space for media editing) then you take more
chances.
