server access log analysis

i desire to occasionally download my server access
logs to my laptop and pay better attention to what's
going on.  i've seen links like this,
http://www.linuxlinks.com/Software/Log_Analyzers/ but
haven't really found what i'm looking for.  any
suggestions on applications for reading these text
files?  thanks.  - eric c.
