Ubuntu weird characters in PuTTY

As it happens, I work at Bitstream, but I'm not on a first name basis with
Kris Holmes or Chuck Bigelow.  It is an excellent font, though.

 I'm not worried about the '?' characters.  At least they only occupy one
position, and thus don't screw up the display.
