Accessing Windows share without mount?

 From the command line, there smbclient, which is essentially an  
ftp-like application for transferring files over an SMB/CIFS mount.

On the desktop side, I honestly don't know anymore if Konqueror or  
Nautilus can handle such a task directly, but you may want to look at  
an app called SMB4K.  I remember it made the task of mounting such  
shares a sinch, but I can't recall if it assists with non-mounted  
access as well.

Sorry, it's been a few years since I've worked in a hybrid network.
