This is largely because:

a) about six months after you've decided that a particular
hardware set is rock-solid, some part of it is discontinued,
silently upgraded, or otherwise rendered un-purchasable.

b) you need to know what system is delivering the programming
before you buy the tuner hardware. At a minimum you need to
support FireWire, HD-PVR, HDHomeRun, DVB-S, and a range of cable
box oddities with IR blasters.

c) and not everyone buys the same channel packages.

Do you have solutions for all three?
