OT: contact-management hell (iPhone how-to)

Unfortunately, the easy way requires iTunes somewhere although not  
necessarily on your primary Linux box.  Recent versions of iTunes can  
sync with Google Calendar and Contacts.  The easy way is to push your  
contact data up to Google and then tell iTunes to pull that down next  
time you sync/backup the iPhone.

The hard way starts with a jailbreak and gets hard from there.
