You are right: 10Base2 was designed for 50 Ohm cable. However, adapters
are available that connect 75 Ohm "TV" cable to 10BaseT Ethernet:
they're intended for use with existing cable TV plant that has been
retrofitted to add data, or is being re-purposed for data use without
TV. They're just baluns, but wound for the higher impedance of RG-59 coax.
Of course, coax is limited to half-duplex.
