That's certainly one solution; mine has been to recommend OS X - its certified UNIX that is well behaved and I don't need to setup as much as would with Linux. My brother in law, a chef (not good with computers) living in Colorado, has a horribly slow PC (think 5min to open IE) running XP. When the on board NIC died and it wouldn't run a new one he thought about a new PC - I suggested he replace it with a Mac Mini. I got a call a few weeks later and he really dug it - a year and half later he is still really happy with it and its still going fast. My parents ignored that advice and now I don't have to help support them any more - which is really great. In fact it even motivated me to get a Mac; I picked up a Mac book over the weekend and although I don't have everything I want to do 100% f
 igured out yet it I do really like it.
