dreamhost, postgresql & php

hi all.  i'm having a tuff time getting php and postgresql to play nice
with each other on the dreamhost ps.  anybody know where i can find a
check list of every single thing that needs to be set up for the two to
work together?  fwiw here's some random babbling by me:

their support techs currently have no desire to be of assistance.
