Only if they directly connected the nic to the cable/dsl/fios modem. If
they're using a firewall, then no one outside of the private net (broadcast
domain) will see the mac.
He should also file a police report and check craigslist (all new england cl
sites) and ebay often. Who knows, it might show up.
