A tangential point, but Busybox is a common component used on most
devices that embed Linux. It is a single executable that provides a
stripped down shell, plus simplified versions of a dozen or so other
common commands that normally are separate executables. It's popular
with embedded systems because it is optimized to use a minimum of resources.
You'll find Busybox on phones, routers, video cameras, and as you noted,
NAS appliances. The presence of Busybox doesn't tell you much about the
device, other than it runs Linux and executes shell scripts.
