I don't use Apple Mail period.
One documented issue with T-Bird is that it can freeze if a folder (eg.
MBX) file is corrupted. In the past I have removed all the index files,
and both compressed and checked my folders, and I don't think it is an
issue for me. My Drafts folder is a local folder, but iMap does have its
own Drafts folder. Most of my composed email goes into the local folder.
I don't think the auto-saves are the issue, but if I start to see the
freezes again, this is another area to look at. One further symptom was
that t-Bird would lock up overnight, and when I would try to do
something, it would be frozen. My solution there was just to kill it. In
any case I have not seen any issues since the update to F17.
