Jerry, I had a similar problem with a Samsung S3 phone. If you're passing thru Logan, there is an audio-video store inside the security area that sells a part that worked for me. We tested it in the store. It's actually made by Samsung, but doesn't seem to be available in the phone stores or at Best Buy or MicroCenter. It's just called "HDTV Smart Adapter" on the box. It says it's compatible with all MHL devices. Maybe it will do the job.

Subject: [Discuss] Connecting a tablet to an overhead projector
I have a Samsung Galaxy 2 10.1 that I would like to use to connect to
the overhead projectors at MIT. They also have HDMI. The adapter is
available at MicroCenter for $35, but apparently it is not compatible
with the Galaxy Tab 2, only the 1. Apparently Samsung has 2 different
adapters. The one at MicroCenter is not compatible, and the one on the
Samsung web site appears only to be compatible with the Tab 3. No major
issue because I use my netbook for most presentations.
