I have Fedora 20 set up in a RAID configuration for /, /boot, and /home.
But, only /dev/sda has GRUB2 installed in the MBR. I want to be able to
replace, wipe, and retire /dev/sda. I can certainly install grub2 on
/dev/sdb by booting the Fedora rescue DVD, but I would prefer to enable
/dev/sdb to boot if /dev/sda were to fail, and then add a third drive,
configure it properly all before I remove /dev/sda.
sudo grub2-install /dev/sdb
I assume this would work without damaging anything. (just being paranoid
to avoid Murphy)
