Illumos has a new lease on life: Oxide Computer loudly uses it as a key 
component in making their on-prem cloud servers (if I may describe them 
such) work.

P.S. They sound like a /very/ cool company. They use Rust heavily. Which 
makes them even more cool, or fad-chasers to be dismissed.
