Well, a few decades ago a coworker said "Artificial intelligence has
failed but natural stupidity is still going strong."  And one of the
glories of the global village that is the Internet is that there's
nothing so strange, stupid, deluded, etc. that you might not run
directly into it at any moment.

I'd have to know you rather well before I would reflexively say "I know
John well enough that this must be some kind of joke."
