Chris,
This is great news.  We are delighted that the surgeon was so positive, and that Jan is so upbeat. Our prayers will continue for her full recovery.

Jan spent right at about 4 hrs being worked on.  Thank goodness
she was knocked out and did not have a clue as to what they were
doing to her.  I was in the room she is assigned to as they brought
her up to it.  She was still pretty much out of it but slowly over
the next hour or so she gained a sense that I was there and tried to
smile.  Her nurse was hooking her up to all sorts of machines
dripping and beeping.  Her vital were excellent.

I had a long conversation with her Surgeon after the operation who
informed me that the operation went very smoothly and they removed
the offending section with the cancer in it and got her parts all
sewn together again and expect no leakage problems there. While they
had her open they inspected her interior abdomen and found everything
to be normal but that she has dirciculites and needs to stop
concentrating on Peanut butter sandwiches and instead eat more
roughage. Nurse said she had a good night .

I left after several hours of her fading in and out from the pain
killers and drugs she had received.  Got a good nights sleep and went
in this morning.  When I walked in her room she was sitting in a
chair and gave me a great smile that I had not seen in a couple of
years. The tube down her nose to her tummy was gone and the bag was
gone.  Vitals were all excellent.  She looked great. We had
conversation for several hours and then she told me to go home send
emails out and she wanted to get a couple of hours of sleep without a
tube in her nose and down her throat. So I left her and will go back
in a couple of hours when she should be up.  So far she is only
allowed to eat ice chips for a couple of days and is hungry. Any
major changes and I will communicate. Thank you all for prayers and
good thoughts.
