You might want to check DejaNews (http://www.dejanews.com/forms/dnq.html)
to see what other people have to say about putting X on a machine like yours.
For example, you could search for 
      dell & linux & S3
although I suspect that would give you too many hits.  More specific would
be 
      (dell ^1 whatever_your_model_number_is) & linux & S3
The notation "^1" (which is not control-1, but is really shift-6 followed by 1)
says to find dell within one word of whatever_your_model_number_is.
