100 watts * 8 hrs * 250 days * O.16 $/kwh = 32.00$/year

15" fp monitor = $400.00   
17" crt monitor = $160.00

Granting the fp monitor zero power usage this yields
a break even point about seven years away.

Given this there is no financial need to explore the cost of heating,
cooling or space except in unusual circumstances.
