What does HR look like?
More to the point, unless the "not a valid excuse" is also the
opinion of HR and management, the original poster could otherwise
be saying "my former job" if they try to push the issue.  Many
of us do not have the luxury of standing on principle in the
current job market; I for one have two children to feed and a
mortgage to pay.
