Optional:  Login to me at mydomain.com, and go to settings / accounts / send as another email address (and verify.)

Not optional:  Login to me at gmail.com, go to settings / forwarding.  Configure it to forward to me at mydomain.com.

Now, everything addressed to you will appear in your unified inbox, me at mydomain.com.  You have the option (depending on whether or not you did the first step) to configure:

When replying to a message:
[X] Reply from the same address the message was sent to
[_]Always reply from default address (currently me at mydomain.com)
