[Discuss] OT: Do CS grads need calculus?

When I'm confronted with questions of this nature, my favorite analogy is
to physical fitness

Treadmill? How often does your job entail running non-stop for 30-45
minutes without actually going anywhere?

Lifting weights? How often does your job entail picking up heavy objects,
then putting them back in the same place, and repeating that a dozen times?

Stretching exercises? How often does your job entail touching your toes
from a standing position, then standing straight again, and repeating the
action a dozen times?

The main reason schools require people to study math is to sharpen their
ability to think with precision.

You work out at the gym to improve your physical fitness, and you study
math to improve your cognitive fitness.
