Indeed.


One of the things that makes for a really good engineer is the ability 
to make solid judgment calls that s/he sometimes can't easily and 
satisfactorily explain to the tireless beginner, and finally has to 
resort to "Trust me, that is the better way.", and getting back to work.

One of the things that makes for a really good flame war is the engineer 
who thinks he can fully explain his judgment calls and is willing to do 
so until the end of time.
