Ran across these guys on Twitter: http://wiblocks.luciani.org/ They make Arduino-compatible boards (such as a $10 (PCB only) minimal board), including a bunch of stuff involving ZigBee (they have a whitepaper intro to ZigBee http://wiblocks.luciani.org/white-papers/intro-to-zigbee.html ).
