Hello All, The trusty (?) hard drive on my Linux Web server (of less than 6 months old) appears to have suffered a hit. The system is still running but there are a lot of processes waiting for disk access. (Status="D" on the ps -ax report). Here is the output from /var/adm/messages: Jun 6 06:25:23 neptune kernel: hda: read_intr: status=0x59 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest Error } Jun 6 06:25:23 neptune kernel: hda: read_intr: error=0x01 { AddrMarkNotFound }, sector=49171, CHS=158/1/32 Jun 6 06:25:23 neptune kernel: harddisk I/O error Jun 6 06:25:23 neptune kernel: dev 0302, sector 49171 Jun 6 06:25:23 neptune kernel: inode=6124, block=24585 Now what do I do (short of buying a new drive and re-installing everything)? Can I "edit" the inode or somehow tell the disk controller to ignore the bad sector/block? Help!! Thanks in advance, John Irza (jirza at world.std.com)
