Samba has two key differences from a standard (Microsoft) SMB server: (1) it uses NetBIOS/SMB encapsulated in TCP/IP and will not (at present) work with raw NetBIOS/SMB, and (2) it is not a browsable resource and either each client must manually specify the server name or some machine other than the Samba server must be made the resource browser. Also, make a point of dropping in at http://lake.canberra.edu.au/pub/samba. -- Mike
