The next BLU Meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 17th, 1999. Subject: SAMBA Enchanted Evening Where: MIT Building 3-133 Presented by: Christoph Doerbeck <cdoerbec at ici.net> Christoph Doerbeck shows us Samba, an open source software suite that provides seamless file and print services to SMB/CIFS clients such as Windows 95/98 and NT Workstation. Agenda: 1.What is SAMBA? ( gloss over of SMB, CIFS, & NFS ) 2.Compiling source ( options, installation ) 3.Configuration ( shares, integrating with NIS, printer shares ) 4.Demonstation Background: Unlike most of Chris' Linux related experience (at home hobbiest), he has actually configured and supported SAMBA in a commercial environment. He has plenty of real world experience to share. http://www.linuxsoup.com/ http://us1.samba.org/ For more information check the BLU Web site:http://www.blu.org/ BLU Meets the third Wednesday of every month at MIT.
