We have been using majordomo on the blu server (and prior to that on the 
BCS server) for years. Here are a few URLs.

John Abreau is very knowledgable. I have also set up majordomo. At blu 
we use a script to add new lists.

message body to discuss-request at blu.org (Subject line is ignored).
