imho... from very LIMITED experience.... GNOrpm makes it hard to install packages from the CDROM... I havent been able to fugure that out... The few times I have tried to use it, I get errors the command line "rpm" has worked everytime, with a quick reference to the man page. ______________________________________ Chuck Tewksbury Director of MIS Harborside Healthcare 617-646-5694 ctewksbury at hbrside.com http://www.hbrside.com ______________________________________ -----Original Message----- From: Glenn Burkhardt [mailto:glenn at aoi.ultranet.com] Sent: Wednesday, July 12, 2000 9:36 AM To: Derek Martin Cc: Tewksbury, Chuck; 'Discuss at Blu.Org' Subject: Re: Gnome RPM > > > does Gnome RPM suck or is it just me? > > > > It sucks. The Mandrake 'rpmdrake' is much better. > > Very subjective... ;) Of course. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and all that. I've found: 1. GnomeRPM doesn't give me the option of installing required packages after it checks the RPM file I want to install. 2. It's GUI is cumbersome and unintuitive (sorry, another subjective judgement!) 3. I can't figure out how to use the search function. 'rpmdrake', on the other hand, has always done what I've wanted with a minimal amount of effort. So we all know which one I use.... - Subcription/unsubscription/info requests: send e-mail with "subscribe", "unsubscribe", or "info" on the first line of the message body to discuss-request at blu.org (Subject line is ignored).
