[Kevin M. Gleason: Thu, Mar 08, 2001 at 08:03:01AM -0500] > After watching all the installs last Saturday, I tried doing another one > with my trusty ol' Red Hat 6.2 selecting new applications and a new > monitor but after the Full Install (and upon reboot) my screen display > began to flash (so much that I couldn't login). How does one recover > from choosing the right monitor with the wrong hor/vert settings? Or is > there a recovery at all? > easiest would be ctrl-alt-f1 and see if it gives you a text console... if it does you can just kill xdm and X related things and then run Xconfigurator (or however you configure X) to try again. if you can't get a text console, you can boot into runlevel three from lilo. (3 typically doesn't start xdm, but does start other user level services.) assuming your lilo target is called linux at the lilo prompt type "linux 3" to get into that runlevel... from there you can do the Xconfigurator routine.. -P - Subcription/unsubscription/info requests: send e-mail with "subscribe", "unsubscribe", or "info" on the first line of the message body to discuss-request at blu.org (Subject line is ignored).
