scp. e.g. `scp username at host.domain:/path/to/fromfile tofile`.  Newer
versions of openssh also support sftp, which is like ftp, but secure.

make sure that ssh can be found on both ends.  maybe symlink into
/usr/bin or something.

next fun thing to try is rsync over ssh...
