I completely agree with the 'barney' book. It has proved itself a good addition to my library. Also, I would get the "Linux in a Nutshell" from O'Reilly. Just as a note, you may want to check out your local, small business computer shop for cheap computers. I have one near where I live that has a stack of p-133 barebones computers for $25. Just add a couple of items and off you go. You can find cheap, older computers pretty easily. One of the computers I presently run Linux on is a p-100. #jlk >From: Seth Gordon <sethg at ropine.com> >To: smith at mclinux.com >CC: dealer at usa.com, discuss at Blu.Org >Subject: Re: Learn as Linux Administrator >Date: 9 Aug 2001 14:57:40 -0000 > > [Jeffry Smith:] > I would also recommend setting up a small network at home (2 cheap > computers to start with) where you can play around with the stuff. > There's nothing like doing it to make you understand. > >Addendum: If the only Internet access you have is through a dialup >account, do *not* try to set things up so that both computers can be >on the Internet at once.
