When it's "working" I get > literally 10% of the nfs bandwidth that I get with 3coms; when it's > not working, well, I get 0% plus as a bonus the standard "freeze the > whole machine for a couple minutes because nfs is unhappy" behavior. > Don't know if it's the linux driver or the card that's the culprit (or > the netapp, though again the 3com does just fine so the eepro should > be able to also). ditto on the eepro. i've had nothing but bad experiences, especially with nfs performance. there were netapps involved, but i don't remember if nfs was better with another server. as for favorite cards, i'm especially partial to the tulip chipset. the best tulip cards (imho) are the netgear fa310tx and the dlink dfe-570. that netgear is awesome becasue it's got 5 status leds and it works flawlessly (unusual features in a $12 card). the dlink is great because it is a quad nic for $150. /chris
