A friend of mine has a problem. Does anyone here know the answer? ----- Forwarded message from John Harrold <harrold at sage.che.pitt.edu> ----- From: John Harrold <harrold at sage.che.pitt.edu> To: <wplug at wplug.org> Subject: [wplug] ext2 recovery utility? Date: Mon, 18 Mar 2002 14:59:26 -0500 (EST) ok. first i feel really silly right now. while trying to convert my ext2 partition to ext3 i used 'mke2fs' instead of 'tune2fs'. so as you can guess the files are all gone. the next question would be: do you have any backups? of course not silly, if i did i wouldn't be writing this right now. so my question is this: is there any way to get the information off the disk? the 0's and 1's should be there. i've poked throught google, groups and all. most of the posts are people trying to recover fat partitions after accidently installing linux on them. i would appreciate any help in recovering the data. -- thanks john "have algorithm-will travel" ----- End forwarded message ----- -- ~'`^`'~=-.,__,.-=~'`^`'~=-.,__,.-=~'`^`'~=-., \|/ (___) \|/ _,.-=~'`^` Brian Medley @~./'O o`\.~@ "Knowledge is Power" brian.medley at verizon.net /__( \___/ )__\ *PPPFFBT!* -- Francis Bacon `\__`U_/' _,.-=~'`^`'~=-.,__,.-=~'`^`'~=-.,__,.-=~'`^`'~= <____|' ^^`'~=-.,__,.-= ~`'^`'~=-.,__,.-=~'`^`'~=-.,__,.-=~'`^`'~=-.,__,.-==--^'~=-.,__,.-=~'`^`
