majordomo question

Does anyone know a good (fairly complete) source of info for a majordomo 
list-owner?

My question has to do with the "auth" command.

When a subscriber just replies to the confirmation, how do you get the 
majordomo system to look for the text of the auth and ignore anything else?

I actually am new as a  list-owner.
