One of the reasons that I chose Attbi (in addition to $41 a month for 1.5/384 connection) was that they explicitly allowed both any *NIX OS and NAT. From their Security FAQ: ------------------------------------------------------- Can I run Linux or another UNIX-based operating system? Yes. It is permissible to run a Linux or UNIX-based operating system on your AT&T connection, however AT&T does not support Linux configurations. If you choose to run Linux, you will need to refer to your documentation to take appropriate security measures. ------------------------------------------------------- and ------------------------------------------------------- Can I use a router or other networking device to share my AT&T Broadband connection? Yes. However, AT&T Broadband will not provide support for your connection while it is connected to a LAN or unsupported device. In addition, you will need to take appropriate security measures to ensure that your network is secure. ------------------------------------------------------- This notion that AT&T is trying to snuff out non-Windows setups is rubbish. I haven't used their MAC registration page myself, but I really don't think it's time to break out the conspiracy theories quite yet. -b
