Anyone have experience with PVC piping?

The original plan was to use the 10/100 cards for the low latency
transmission and to use a one gigahertz nics for high bandwidth but funding
gave out a bit early (prices on products kept floating up and down at wrong
times). I think I'll build the 100Mb network (stage one) now while
acccumulating the 64 nodes (stage two) then focus on moving to Gigabit (in
stage three). I hope this makes sense as I'm still kinda new to this!
Any thoughts on who I might tap for gigabit donorships/sponsors?
