Although it allows me to mount the cd-rom, I can't _boot_ from the cdrom, and I think this is a BIOS issue. If I try to pass a parameter to it, it seems to mangle it with an 8.3 filename restriction: linux initrd=/dev/hde1/install/initrd.gz comes out as "image not found: /dev/hde.1/i" (note the added period) This problem is -not- unique to the RIP disk; I get the same result when I use the Debian Rescue floppy, i.e., it mangles the file name into an 8.3 format and truncates it. All suggestions welcome: I'm running a Dell Poweredge 600SC. Bill -- E. WIlliam Horne William Warren Consulting Computer and Network Installation & Service http://www.billhorne.com/ 781 784-7287
