Bob, You'll want to check out Wordpress [1]. It is primarily a blogging tool, but it is also used to drive websites. You use the admin interface and their themes architecture to layout the site how you want it to look and from that point forward, you just log into the admin interface and click on "Write". Once you get it going, it will require very little maint. It has a decent interface for creating your HTML (simple, too) and it handles all the crap that you want a CMS to. The documentation [2] on their codex is also fantastic. --Larry (who doesn't like PHP, but this app is well done) Underhill [1] http://www.wordpress.org [2] http://codex.wordpress.org On Tue, 2005-11-08 at 17:25 -0500, Bob BLU wrote: > Sorry to ask a newbie question... > > My wife needs to create and maintain a small web site for a school PTO. > > For now she needs a basic template that applies to about six pages of text. > The template will have a header, and navigation menu down the left. > > I'm looking for a very simple to use solution that will require little or no maintenance on my part. > > Currently I'm thinking a quality wiki or low-end CMS available from a low cost ISP. It also requires her (or me) to monkey with web site layout, where she would rather just work on the content. > > Thanks a bunch for any helpful responses of any sort. > > _______________________________________________ > Discuss mailing list > Discuss at blu.org > http://olduvai.blu.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss
